Dr Jyoti Ranjan Parida is a Clinical immunologist and Rheumatologist involved in treatment of Lupus patients since the last one decade. After passing M.B.B.S from MKCG Medical college,Berhampur in 2002, he has done his M.D.(Internal Medicine) in SCB Medical college, Cuttack from 2005 – 2008. During his post graduate days he has come in contact with hundreds of Lupus patients. The suffering of these patients has motivated him to pursue a carrier in Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology. He had done his post graduate research thesis entitled “ A study of Clinical Profile of Systemic Lupus ErythematosusandCorrelation of Serum Mannose binding Lectin with disease activity ” which was later published in prestigious indexed international journals like Arthritis Research & Therapy and Human Immunology
In 2010, he qualified to work as a senior resident in Clinical Immunology at prestigious Sanjay Gandhi Post grduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow. A year after he stood “topper”in entrance test for entry into DM course in Clinical Immunology in SGPGIMS and by doing so Dr Parida became “first doctor from Odisha” to achieve this milestone. In 2014,he completed his D.M.(Clinical Immunology) as the best outgoing student of SGPGIMS and awarded with the Prof R K Sharma Best Clinician award –2014 a gold medal. He was also selected for prestigious “Indo UK fellowship -2014” and trained in Musculoskeletal ultrasound in Queens medical college, Nottingham,UK.
Although he was getting many opportunities outside, he always wanted to come back to Odisha and to work for thousands of people suffering from autoimmune disease and arthritis. Presently he is working as associate professor and head of Department of “Immunology and Rheumatology ” at IMS and SUM hospital, Bhubaneswar.
